Problem 1:
I am trying to insert a picture using the WYSIWYG Editor. I click on the "Insert/Edit Image" icon and then click on the "Browse Server" button, but no pictures are showing in the "pictures" folder. What am I doing wrong?
Problem 2:
I am trying to link some text (or an image) to a document (or picture) on the server using the WYSIWYG Editor. I click on the "Insert/Edit Link" icon and then click on the "Browse Server" button, but I do not see my files listed? What am I doing wrong?
Solution:
If you are experiencing Problem 1 or Problem 2 above, the most likely cause is that one or more of the files in the folder that you are trying to browse contain an invalid character in the file name. The most common invalid character that can cause this error is "&". For example, if you have a picture called "picture 1 - black & white.jpg", this one file name will cause Problem 1 (above) because of the "&" character in the file name. This is also true of "#".
To solve this problem, follow these steps:
- In the "Manage Files" section of the Administrative Interface, delete the file that contains the invalid character.
- On your local computer, find the file that you originally uploaded and rename it so that it does not contain any invalid characters.
- In the "Manage Files" section of the Administrative Interface, upload the file that you renamed in Step 2.
- Finally, you will need to find all of the places on your website where the file that was deleted in Step 1 (above) is referenced and change it to the file that was uploaded in Step 3 (above).
- Repeat Steps 1-4 for each file in the "Manage Files" section of your website that contains invalid characters.
The list of invalid characters includes "&", "#", and others. To be safe, the only non-alphanumeric characters that you should use when naming files that you are going to upload to your website are as follows:
"_" (underscore)
"-" (dash or hyphen)
